Delta HVAC's navy and grey 5-panels

Delta HVAC came to us wanting hats that would stand out. The requirement they cared most about was color. They wanted their brand navy and their brand grey, and they wanted the hats to actually match, which is a harder ask than it sounds.

They went with our Laser Perforated Performance 5-Panel, which is the style we sell the most of.

Getting the navy and grey right

Because we build every hat from scratch, the color conversation starts at the fabric instead of with whatever blank happens to be closest on a supplier's shelf. That's how Delta ended up with hats you can hold next to their logo without anything looking a shade off.

Two versions

Delta wanted some variety across the run, so we split it. The grey hat got a Texas flag on the side panel, which put some red and white against a fairly neutral crown and gave the run a pop of color. The navy hat got a white Texas outline on the side instead, which reads a little more low key.

The holes go in last

There's one thing about our hats I like pointing out, mostly because almost nobody notices it.

With a laser perforated hat you normally get a blank that already has the holes punched in it. Whoever is doing the decoration has to work around whatever pattern is already there, so you either fit the logo into a gap or you accept that perforations are going to run through it.

We do it in the other order. The embroidery goes on first and then we build the hole pattern around it. So the Texas flag on Delta's grey hat sits exactly where we wanted it, and there's nothing punched through the middle of it.

We dropped them off in person

Once the hats were finished we drove them over and handed them to the Delta team ourselves instead of shipping them out. Everybody loved them. Watching people try a hat on in front of you tells you a lot more than waiting on an email after a pallet shows up, and getting to be there for that part is one of the better pieces of this job.
